Scotlands Certificate RIP OFF
From: Liz Comrie Sat 20 Feb 2010 20:51

Why is it in Scotland when you buy a BMD Certificate it cost £10, and you can wait up to 20 working days + postage time for it to arrive.
Yet if you order a Certificate from the English GRO it only costs £7 + you can have it within a week most of the time.
Come on Reg House stop ripping us off.
Scotlands Certificate RIP OFF

I`m guessing its down to the fact that the English GRO has more staff/more requests so are better set up to handle it.
I only posted as i needed to check up on a birth certificate which i had the details for but was a discrepancy in DOB and date registered.I found out it was due to re-registration following parents marriage.
I sent an Email to Register house in Edinburgh They told me to write away and got the details back within a week For free.
Only mention in case you have the relevant details(serial number and /or DOB and/or DOD and so on) of the certificate you want Might be worth trying a websearch about how to get the details
Just a suggestion and dare say you have thought about this way yourself
TC and happy hunting
