Subject: Householder's address on 1911 census page From: Rod Smith Wed 2 May 2007 17:18
I've had a look at a sample 1911 census page, but can't see where the householders address is, the only thing I can think is that each house has it's own page. Can someone enlighten me?

Rod, With the previous censuses, 1901 and earlier, what has been saved was the enumerator's books into which they copied the details from the schedules completed by each household. The actual schedules were then destroyed. When we get to see the 1911 census, we will see the actual schedule that was completed by the householder. This was a two-sided single page document. "Side 1" is mainly instructions on how to fill in the personal details on "side 2" but there was also a part that was completed by the enumerator with the registration district details, the name of the head of family and the postal address. I'm guessing the page you've seen is what I've called "side 2" so the answer to your question is, yes each house had its own schedule with the address written on "side 1". Hope this helps, David
