Two places at the same time in the census's
From: mary wrotchford (--@--.--) Tue 5 Jan 2010 8:27

While tracing my Grandmother in the 1911 census, she appears to be in two places at once. How can this be?. She is with her husband and children [my dad included] at one address, and at her parents address with her eldest daughter my Aunt Lily, I could under stand if the census was taken at different times, because she could have gone for a visit during the day. But it say's the census was taken at midnight. Its the same with my great great granmother in the 1841 census. I'm 77yr and its driving me up the wall. Help.

I think its just her husband didn't fully understand the rules so he included your grandmother in the census return for their home, her normal address, even though on the night of the census she was staying with her daughter and was also correctly included on the census return for there. My great-grandmother and one of her sons appeared twice in the 1901 census for exactly the same reason.
