1911 Census Schedules
Unlike earlier censuses, the schedules that were distributed for householders to complete have been preserved and it is these that you will see when the 1911 census eventually comes online.
A single large piece of paper was distributed, printed on both sides. The first side had the premise details, the responsibility of the enumerator to complete, plus detailed instructions to the householder on what to do. The second side was where the householder gave details of everyone present on the night of the census.
The schedules shown here were those used for households in England. There were variations for Wales (English and Welsh language versions were available), in the Channel Islands, in the Isle of Man and for institutions and vessels. Schedules were also available in German and in Yiddish.
